Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill, the memorial place for Mauri people, is a volcanic peak of 182- metre. Tourists can view the Auckland havens from the peak. There is a famous stone carving called obelisk on the top. Richard Atkinson designed it in 1940.
One tree hill is sometimes called No tree hill or Hill. It remains designated one tree hill because before many years there was sitting a Totora tree at the Hill’s top. Later on, this tree was replaced by a pine tree. In 1940, Maoris decided to grow more trees on Hill. That tree survived for 120 years. Vandals attacked the tree, and they destroy it. From One hill tree tourist get enough time to visit Cornwall Park and Acacia cottage, historical site. Travellers can enjoy a picnic among tall trees and on a flower bed of the garden.
