Located on a volcanic plateau which covers much of the Central North Island, Rotorua is well known for its geothermal wonderland of boiling mud pools, spectacular geysers & maori culture. Nestled beside the cerulian blue Lake, Rotorua's lanndscape is a perfect blend of lush fields, 17 beautiful lakes and steams rising from ground (Visisble all over).

Places to visit

The township of Rotorua is one of the most unique tourism sites in the world. With its richness in heritage and culture, the magnificent geothermal experience and the astonishing natural beauty of the landscape, Rotorua is a major center for tourism and there is an abundance of activities ranging from spiritually fulfilling to adrenaline charged action. 

Te Puia

Te Puia is the home to New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Insitute and the world famous Pohutu geyser. This is the main geyser of the area, it spurts up to twenty times per day and can reach heights of up to 30 metres (100 feet). Apart from this, visitors also have an opportunity to see Māori cultural (staged) performances, live kiwi, boiling mud pools, native bush and the National Schools of Wood Carving and Weaving.

Hell's Gate Thermal Reserve, Mud Baths & Thermal Spa

Hell's Gate geothermal attraction is Rotorua's most active geothermal park featuring boiling hot pools & erupting waters, steaming fumaroles; hot water lakes; sulphur crystals and deposits; New Zealand's largest active mud volcano; Southern Hemisphere's largest hot water fall.

Hells Gate is also the home to a unique Rotorua Spa Experience. This historic spa experience, unique in the world, will leave your skin clean and soft to touch which can last up to 6 weeks after the spa experience due to the amazing properties endowed in the geothermal mud and sulphur water by nature.

Wai-O-Tapu | Sacred Waters – Thermal Wonderland

New Zealand's most colourful geothermal attraction - just 27kms (20mins drive) from Rotorua, 53kms (40mins drive) from Taupo.

Wai-O- Tapu's unique features include the world famous Champagne Pool naturally coloured springs, bubbling mud, steaming ground, expansive vistas and huge volcanic craters.

The natural bush setting adds another dimension to the experience as does the Lady Knox Geyser which erupts daily at 10.15 am to heights of up to 20 meters. The modern Visitor Centre has a wide range of New Zealand souvenirs and a cafe which has internal and external dining areas.

Tamaki Maori Cultural Village Rotorua

How to get there 

Rotorua is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Hamilton and about 3.5 hours from Auckland. We are open seven days a week and offer affordable private hire service from your your door step. Our rates are very competitive, includes GST with no hidden surprise and affordable to everyone.

Auckland to Rotorua via Waitomo caves
