Purera forest park is the heart of New Zealand. Timber Trail is the gateway to enjoy spectacular birds, trees and many more of the Purera forest. The timber trail is divided into two parts. Both ways facilitate transport and visitors will fall in love with the natural and ancient beauty of the woods. Overnight stay is fantastic to feel the green atmosphere.
Different Trail Rides Available Are As Follows:
The Timber path follows the trail of recent work roads and tramlines, connected and smoothened using contemporary trail-building techniques. It extends between Pureora’s tiny settlements and Ongarue. Piropiro marks the path halfway. Visitors can start at Pureora north, and it is the most satisfying approach to get the experience unidirectional ride. It takes two days to complete this ride because of remoteness and restricted road accessibility.
Straightforward walking through the natural beauty of the native forest, visitors reach the 350 elevations at the top of Mount Pureora. Then the trail will move downhill preponderantly across the Hauhungaroa western flanks. Its channels spanned through eight of the longest and highest suspension bridges of New Zealand.
There are lodge accommodation and camping at Piropiro flats where the first-day trip ends. The second day is full of adventure with a mixture of huts, bridges, forests and significant spirals. At Ongarue, the trail ride ends and visitors go further in shuttles. Some visitors like to explore a 26 km distance to Taumarunui by a rural road.
