We will pick up from your place and travel south, through lush green farmland and rolling hills of Waikato region. The Hobbiton Movie Set is world renown and one of New Zealand's must-see destinations in Waikato. The Hobbiton is a working farm near the small town of Matamata and was transformed into a film set for the world-famous movies such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Hobitton is a 2 hours real middle earth experience from Shire's Cafe, where you will encounter the original Hobbit Holes, the Green Dragon Inn, the Party Tree, Double arch bridge and many more. You can also take a photo at the gate to Bilbo’s house, “Bag End”, looking out over the whole set to the hills in the distance. Experienced tour guide will share amazing stories and fascinating facts about how the movie magic was brought to life. The tour concludes at Green Dragon Inn with a complimentary ale, cider or ginger beer. Next stop is the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves, a network of underground rivers, tunnels and caves made from incredible limestone formations. A 45-minute tour of Glowworm caves concludes with a truly special underground boat ride along the Waitomo river through the Glowworm Grotto, where millions of tiny glowworms shine overhead as the boat sail through a dark and silent cavern. At the end of the tour, our driver will take you back to Auckalnd.
Your tour continues with an intimate underground boat ride, along the Waitomo river, through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny lights from the glow worms suspended from the cave ceiling.
